4 April 2008
It's our 3rd and final day in Gold Coast.
We were rather sleepless from the packing of our luggages and wanting to enjoy every last moment in the Palazzo Versace.
We met Jane in the hotel lobby at 9am and bade farewell to the lovely and probably best hotel I've stayed in.
Sea World was just about 5 minutes drive away from the hotel and at first sight, I would have mistaken it for a beachside resort from its exteriors.
T-shirt of the day, my grab from Supre: "Forget love, I'd rather fall in chocolate."
Nad filming on the Samsung MX-10 in the carpark of Sea World. She's wearing her Batman tank top, cos we're meeting Batman himself in the later part of the day.
At the administration area of Sea World, I guess this is the closest I could get to a penguin for now.
Through the entry gates into Sea World, it was empty as we were granted early access due to our registration for the animal adventure activities.
Mr. Walrus resting by the waters.
SS Endeavour
At the Sesame Street area of the park.
Big Bird. Pity we didn't get to see them.
And it's off for the main event in Sea World. Animal adventure at Shark Bay. First thing to do? Recce the snorkelling area at the underwater viewing area. Oooh, I see a shark in the distance.
Shark! But as this is one of the potentially dangerous species, it is swimming in a different part of the lagoon with many other huge sharks.
And it's time to go for our activity.
We were signed up for the Tropical Reef Snorkel program, where we will snorkel in Sea World's own Barrier Reef lagoon and get up close and personal with all the beautiful fish, rays and other marine life, not forgetting the harmless Leopard and White-tip Reef sharks.
At the meeting area for the participants. Then we were whisked off and changed into a wet suit, fins and a snorkel.
That's Nad on the extreme left, and I'm by her side. I can't really swim well, so I had to keep holding on to the life buoy. We were accompanied by a Dive Leader.
Having fun! It's really difficult to swim around with the fins, and it was awful when you accidently breathe in water or drink it. Sea water. YUCK.
But it was so peaceful and calm, the fishes were leaving us alone. Obviously, we are in their territory, so we were not allowed to touch anything inside.
After we showered and changed, we went to the Polar Bear exhibit. There was this adorable bear playing with his toy in the pool. I think I could have stood there all day watching it.
Then we started to make our way for the entrance. Along the way, we stopped at the Chocolate shop (where I bought lots of Cadbury chocolate bars), and a pie shop. The beef pie was absolutely delicious!! Wish I could have another.
After grabbing a few souvenirs, we headed off to Warner Brothers Movie World. Next post!
Sea World was good fun, but I wish we had more time to explore the other animals such as the sea lions, dolphins and the shows. Perhaps next time...
